I noticed that Veronica doesn't get HP like the others it's a shame because she is my favorite companion combat wise. As I have not actually tried and tested that kind of setup, I am sticking to the simple version. Step 1: Create an NPC and put it in the world. You have to select the talk option in the companion circle and then select something along the lines of "I think we should part ways for now". and no, there is no other way to give them commands, so you can't shout commands at them in the middle of battle.
